“Christian joy at Easter is the joy, the active hope which is the foundation of our lives as those in the struggle to follow Jesus Christ and enter more deeply into relationship with Him. Jesus’ resurrection is the promise fulfilled of eternal life and lavish love constantly poured out by the Father, Son and Spirit.
Eternal life and love are the deepest longings of our hearts…often covered up, buried by other lesser longings. Easter is the time when our God reaches down once more and asks us to allow ourselves again to know and feel our deepest desires…and then, with the Resurrection of His Son He shows us those deep desires for eternal life and lavish love will be fulfilled.
Suffering, conflict, confusion, death ….those things which haunt us everyday as human beings will not win…but as with Jesus they are the prelude to deep, abiding happiness. So on this Easter let us put ourselves before our Lord who waits to hear from each one of us individually….let us thank and praise our loving God for His promise of eternal life and lavish love, for His unending Mercy and Compassion. And with Easter Joy let us go forth and love our sisters and brothers as we are loved.”
