The “Come and see” program in Dubbo, Ethiopia

On April 16th, our sisters in Dubbo warmly welcomed young women from Kenya to participate in the "Come and See" program. This initiative offers these young women a unique opportunity to learn more about our Cabrinian Charism, explore religious life, and continue their discernment journey. The program is being facilitated by Sr. Alemenesh Otoro and Sr. Genet Henok, who have planned a comprehensive and enriching experience for the participants. Here's an update on the first week of the program.

Throughout the week, the young women have engaged in various missions, gaining firsthand experience in different aspects of our mission work. In Dubbo, they visited the Centre of Life, where they help taking care of the children. They also spent time at local preschools, assisting teachers and interacting with children. They joined in on the Cabrini Ministry Outreach program, helping to extend our reach to those who require assistance beyond our immediate community and visited the sick.

On Saturday, April 25th, Sisters Alemenesh, Genet, and Novice Maureen, along with the young women, traveled to our mission in Sadama. They participated in a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Geziegn Mancha, the parish priest of St. Anne. Following the celebration, the group embarked on a mission to visit the poor and to see where our sisters in Sadama serve. The day concluded with a vocational visit with the youth members of St. Anne parish, who were gathered for a day of retreat. The exchange of stories and experiences was inspiring and enriching for everyone involved.

Apart from the mission experiences, the young women attended various classes covering different topics essential for their personal and spiritual growth. They also received personal accompaniment, ensuring they felt supported and guided throughout their discernment journey.

The first week of the "Come and See" program has been a profound experience for the young women from Kenya. Through missions, educational opportunities, and spiritual gatherings, they are gaining a deeper understanding of religious life and what it means to be bearers of Christ’s love to the World. We look forward to the continued growth and discernment of these young women as they explore their callings.
