One-Day Retreat for Our Lady of Lourdes Vocation Youth Group
Sr. Asnakech Assefa with the Vocation Youth Group
On January 4th, our sisters in Dubbo organized a spiritually enriching one-day retreat for the Vocation Youth Group of Our Lady of Lourdes in Dubbo. This gathering was a profound opportunity for reflection, prayer, and companionship among the youth.
The retreat commenced with Eucharistic Adoration and a collective recitation of the Holy Rosary, setting a contemplative tone for the day's activities. This sacred tradition helped attendees center their minds and spirits, fostering a serene atmosphere for deeper reflection.
Following the Rosary, Sr. Asnakech Assefa delivered a heartfelt reflection focusing on the theme of preparing for the Ethiopian Christmas. Her insights encouraged participants to embrace the season's true meaning, emphasizing spiritual readiness and the cultivation of inner peace. Her words resonated deeply, inspiring the youth to introspect and connect more profoundly with their faith.
“We should give thanks to God for his blessings throughout the year and ask him for pardon of our sins. We should also appreciate all the experiences and the overwhelming & unconditional love of God to all of us. God love each and everyone of us unconditionally and always fills us with joy and hope as he filled Mary with awe of joy, and happiness through angel Gabriel.”
The retreat was further enriched by the presence of Fr. Demise Guraro, O.FM cap, the pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. He offered words of encouragement, urging the youth to remain steadfast in their spiritual journey. His final blessings provided a comforting conclusion to the day's reflections, leaving the participants with a sense of hope and renewal.
As the retreat drew to a close, the group gathered to share bread, coffee, and tea. This retreat allowed participants to connect with each other and share their faith experiences & journey. The efforts of our sisters in Dubbo and the reflection of Sr. Asnakech Assefa and Fr. Demise Guraro made the day truly memorable and impactful for all who attended.
