The Novitiate community recently engaged in a heartwarming volunteering opportunity, contributing their time and effort to two significant establishments in Nairobi: the Jamhuri Short Sentence Prison and the Cottolengo Orphanage Center.

At the Jamhuri Short Sentence Prison, the Novitiate community collaborated with the Capuchin Sisters, Christian Brothers, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes. The focus of their efforts was to provide a sense of compassion and care to the prisoners through the simple yet profound act of preparing and serving lunch.

The volunteers worked together with the religious groups to prepare a wholesome meal, demonstrating teamwork and dedication. Beyond just serving food, the act was imbued with kindness and a message of hope, aiming to uplift the spirits of those incarcerated.

At the Cottolengo Orphanage Center, the Novitiate community, represented by Novice Maureen Ayega and Asrat Adisu, devoted their time to the well-being of the young residents. Maureen and Asrat engaged in activities aimed at nurturing and caring for the children, ensuring they felt loved and supported. Their interactions went beyond basic care, as they built meaningful relationships with the little ones, providing emotional support and companionship.

This volunteering initiative by the Novitiate community not only provided tangible assistance to both institutions but also fostered a sense of community, empathy, and shared humanity. By working alongside the religious groups and offering support to vulnerable populations, the Novitiate community exemplified the power of service and the impact of collective goodwill.
