Day Three: The Call to Be One

Today marked the third and final day of our on-going formation, focusing on the profound theme of the call to be one. As we gathered, the central message was clear: we are called to be united in Christ, forming one body, loving and living in communion with each other. This theme resonates deeply within our community as we strive to embody the principles of a religious family where we all live together seeking to be transformed in Christ.

Sisters Alemenesh, Amarech, Maureen, Suany and Berhane having a group discussion.

Our discussions centered around the idea that unity in Christ is not just a spiritual aspiration but a practical necessity. We explored how being part of one body involves sharing joys, burdens, hopes, and dreams of each other. It is about recognizing the divine spark in each other and fostering an environment where everyone feels heard, loved and valued.

We were privileged to have a rich Cabrinian input from Sr. Therese Merandi, MSC. She shared invaluable insights about our Foundress, St. Frances X. Cabrini, and how she established our first community. Sr. Therese's stories highlighted the visionary leadership and profound faith of our Mother, who believed in the power of unity and perseverance. Her dedication serves as a luminous example for all of us.

In the latter part of the day, our facilitator, Sr. Imma De Stefanis, RSCJ, presented a captivating session about starlings and their remarkable ability to work together. She drew parallels between the synchronized flight patterns of starlings and our call to cooperative action. Starlings, through their murmuration, demonstrate how individuals, when united in purpose, can create beautiful and harmonious movements. The imagery of starlings serves as an inspiring metaphor for our community, it reminds us that when we collaborate and support one another, we can achieve remarkable things that would be impossible alone.

As we concluded this day, we were reminded of the strength found in unity. The formation over these past days has been a journey of reflection, learning, and growth. We leave with a renewed commitment to be one body, united in Christ, ready to face challenges and celebrate victories together.

Our Cabrinian community is a family which comes together from different places, culture and backgrounds. We are drawn by the love of Jesus, the source of our unity, thus becoming prophetic signs of the kingdom. Let us love, “ one another so that we find a sister in each other
