Youth with St. Cabrini: Spirituality and Mission that Flow from the Heart
Between July 28th and August 3rd, youth from the different provinces and region of the MSC institute are in Rome to engage in the spirituality of Mother Cabrini and the sacred Heart of Jesus, and to attend the Jubilee of Youth.
In these days, the members of the delegation from Eswatini, who are attending on behalf of the Holy Spirit Region, will share their journey with us.
Day 2
The second day of our gathering was a deeply inspiring and spiritually enriching experience, centered around the profound legacy of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. Her spirituality and mission continue to inspire and guide many, especially the youth who embody her charism in their daily lives.
Our day commenced with a heartfelt word of prayer from Guatemala youth group.
Following the prayer, we were graced with moving testimonies from the youth group of Nicaragua, along with their dedicated coordinator Sr. Emperatriz Canales, MSC. They spoke passionately about how the Cabrinian Charism has been a beacon in their missions, providing guidance and strength. Their stories highlighted the transformative impact of Mother Cabrini’s life and work, illustrating how her teachings have fortified their spirits and supported their personal and spiritual growth.
They shared how Mother Cabrini’s example of courage and determination has empowered them to overcome personal challenges and engage more deeply with their communities. Their testimonies included stories of community service projects inspired by Cabrinian principles, demonstrating the practical application of her charism in today’s world. They also spoke of a renewed sense of spirituality and purpose, attributing this growth to the teachings and life of Mother Cabrini.
In the afternoon, we joined thousands of young people at St. Peter’s Square for the welcoming mass presieded over by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization. The mass was a beautiful convergence of faith, youth, and diversity, embodying the universal nature of the Catholic Church. It was a moment of joyous celebration and reflection, providing a space for all attendees to unite in their shared mission and spirituality.
At the end of the mass, Pope Leo XIV surprised us moving around St. Peter square on the popemobile to greet the youth and to remind us to be witnesses of hope and peace.
