St. Mary Catholic Hospital in Dubbo Commemorated World Malaria Day 2025

On April 25, 2025, St. Mary Catholic Hospital celebrated World Malaria Day with a medical campaign under the theme “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.” This event took place at the Afama Mino Health Post in Afama Mino village, located in the Boloso Sore Woreda of South Ethiopia Region, and aimed to support communities living in areas with high malaria prevalence.

The event was organized by St. Mary Catholic Hospital to raise awareness about malaria prevention, its symptoms, and to provide treatment through medical campaign to residents of Afama Mino village, a village where hundreds of patients visited the Hospital due to malaria case in 2024. St. Mary’s outreach team, alongside with the health extension workers from the Afama Mino Health Post, distributed flyers with important notes about Malaria disease and educated over 300 individuals to raise awareness. Out of those attendees, 146 were found to be eligible for testing, and 65 tested positive for malaria and received necessary treatment.

The results from this campaign highlighted the increased need for malaria prevention initiatives and the provision of treatment for those affected to save lives. We extend our gratitude to the residents of Afama Mino village and local health center leaders for their collaboration to the success of this impactful campaign.
