Taking action for mental health and well-being
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, observed globally in May, Cabrini Ministries Eswatini hosted a Mental Health Awareness Session for all staff members on May 27th, 2026.
The session was held under the global theme, "Take Action," which emphasizes that mental health is a priority for everyone and encourages individuals to take proactive steps towards maintaining their mental well-being.
Demonstrating its commitment to staff well-being, the organization took the first step by inviting a mental health practitioner to facilitate the session. The training provided participants with a greater understanding of mental health, including what it is, how to recognize signs of mental health challenges, and the importance of seeking support when needed.
Participants also explored practical strategies for promoting mental wellbeing in the workplace and creating a healthy, supportive working environment. Staff were encouraged to prioritize self-care, manage stress effectively, and seek professional assistance whenever they feel overwhelmed or unable to cope with life's challenges.
To reinforce the importance of social support and collaboration, the session incorporated team-building activities that encouraged teamwork, communication, and mutual support among staff members. These activities highlighted the value of working together and demonstrated that achieving organizational goals requires the contribution and cooperation of every team member.
The awareness session served as an important reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health and that creating a culture of openness, support, and understanding is essential for both individual well-being and organizational success.
