Holy Spirit Regional Assembly in Addis Ababa
Sr. Joseane Cabral and Sr. Suany De Oliveira writing a summary after their group discussion.
From the 28th to the 30th of March, a significant regional assembly took place in Addis Ababa, bringing together our sisters for a time of reflection and dialogue. This gathering followed right after a leadership training meeting that included not only the sisters but also our lay collaborators, marking a period of deep engagement and shared learning.
The assembly was skillfully facilitated by Sr. Imma De Stefanis and Sr. Reyna Gonzalez of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (RSCJ). Their guidance was instrumental in fostering meaningful dialogue among the sisters over the three-day period. The discussions were a continuation of the constitutional conversation that began last May, providing an essential platform for addressing key themes within our institute.
The central themes of the assembly revolved around leadership, authority, and membership within our institute. These topics were particularly pertinent following the recent leadership meeting, allowing the sisters to delve deeper into understanding and refining their roles and responsibilities. The assembly was enriched by a Palm Sunday Mass, celebrated by Bishop Tesfaye Tadesse Gebresilasie, M.C.C.I., the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Addis Ababa.
The meeting concluded with a traditional coffee ceremony. This ceremonial conclusion fostered a sense of community and celebration, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences and traditions. In summary, the regional assembly in Addis Ababa was a crucial event for our sisters, offering a space for thoughtful dialogue.
