Jubilee of the Consecrated Life: 1st Day of the Pilgrimage in Rome

Eucharistic Celebration at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls

On October 8th, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, along with religious brothers and sisters from all over the world, gathered in Rome to celebrate the Jubilee of the Consecrated Life. Today’s pilgrimage commenced at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, one of the four major basilicas of Rome. As we passed through the Holy Door, we were reminded of the grace and forgiveness that these doors symbolize. In the course of our pilgrimage, we had a Eucharist celebration which was presided by S.E.R Monsignor Rino Fisichella. Following the Mass, we all went in front of the Statue of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini for prayers and some photos.

We continued our journey to the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major. This basilica, with its rich history and beautiful art, provided a serene environment for reflection and prayer. Passing through its Holy Door was a moment of spiritual renewal and commitment to our consecrated life.

Our next stop was the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the Bishop of Rome. As we walked through its Holy Door, we were reminded of the universal nature of our faith and the unity we share as members of the Church. This experience reinforced our dedication to living a life of service and love.

The pilgrimage concluded with a Vigil prayer at St. Peter's Square, which was optional. The sisters who did not go for the vigil prayer gathered together for a joyful dinner. In summary, today’s pilgrimage was a profound and uplifting experience, strengthening our resolve to live out our vocation with renewed zeal and commitment.
