Second day of our Global Assembly in Rome
October 11th marked the second day of our Global Assembly, a gathering filled with inspiration, reflection, and community. The theme for the day was the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a focus that guided our activities and discussions. We began our day in unity and contemplation with a morning prayer. This sacred time set a reflective tone for the day, allowing us to center our hearts and minds around the profound spirituality we were about to explore.
During Fr. Jose Cristo Rey Garcia Paredes’s Presentation
The morning continued with an enlightening presentation on the Spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Fr. Jose Cristo Rey Garcia Paredes, a member of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CMF). Fr. Jose shared insights into the deep love and compassion embodied by the Sacred Heart. He also shared how Mother Cabrini was devoted to Sacred Heart of Jesus and encouraged us to integrate these values into our daily lives and missions.
In the afternoon, we held a panel discussion featuring four sisters from Mater Gratiae province (Sr. Tatiana Avdokushina), Guadalupe province( Sr. Eileen Currie), Santa Francisca Cabrini province (Sr. Gloria Ines Caixeta) and the Holy Spirit Region(Sr. Alemenesh Otoro Badacho). Each sister shared personal experiences and testimonies of how they have lived and witnessed the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in their missions. Their stories were not only inspiring but also served as a tribute to the diverse ways this spirituality can manifest in service and action. To conclude our conference, our Ethiopian sisters graced us with a beautiful performance of singing in Amharic and dancing. Their vibrant expressions of joy and faith were a highlight of the day, bringing everyone together in dancing.
Our spiritual journey continued with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Excellency Monsignor Maurizio Malvestiti, the Bishop of the Diocese of Lodi. This sacred ceremony was a powerful moment of communal worship and reflection. The day concluded with a joyful dinner followed by a karaoke night. These evening festivities provided an opportunity for relaxation and bonding, as participants shared laughs and songs, fostering a sense of community.
