Our Sisters joined in the festivities, starting the day with a special Mass. This religious service was an opportunity for everyone to come together, give thanks, and seek blessings for the year ahead. Following the Mass, the celebration continued with a communal meal. Sharing food is a central part of Ethiopian culture, symbolizing togetherness and hospitality. The table was filled with traditional dishes, each prepared with care and love. As everyone gathered to eat, laughter and conversation filled the air, creating an atmosphere of warmth.
No Ethiopian celebration is complete without a coffee ceremony. This ritual is a cherished part of Ethiopian culture, and on this special day, it was a highlight of the festivities. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans filled the room as everyone gathered to enjoy. The coffee ceremony is not just about drinking coffee; it's a time to relax, reflect, and connect with one another.
The Ethiopian New Year celebration was truly a day filled with God's blessings. It was a time to honor traditions and look forward to the future with hope and gratitude. As the day came to an end, everyone carried with them the joy and blessings of the celebration, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the new year.
