Cabrinian Youth: A Sacred Weekend with Pope Leo XIV

From July 28th to August 3rd, youths from different provinces and region of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus gathered in Rome for the Jubilee of the Youth. Here is the summary of what happened on these two particular days.

Day 6 & 7

On Saturday, August 2nd, we embarked on a remarkable journey from Casa Cabrini to Tor Vergata. The anticipation was perceptible as we prepared for a Vigil prayer led by Pope Leo XIV. The plan was to spend the night there, united in prayer, and partake in Holy Mass the following morning, Sunday, August 3rd.

It was a beautiful sight to witness young people from all corners of the globe coming together for a shared purpose. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of unity, hope, and communal spirit that transcended cultural and linguistic barriers.

During the Vigil, Pope Leo XIV addressed the assembly with words that resonated deeply within our hearts. He spoke of faith, hope, and the strength found in unity. His message was both uplifting and comforting, instilling a renewed sense of purpose and spiritual vigor among us. Sunday morning brought with it the much-anticipated Holy Mass. The experience was both solemn and joyous. The Pope's homily was particularly moving, emphasizing the importance of love, service, and the role of young people in shaping a better world.

“We need to lift our eyes to look upwards to the things that are above, in order to realize that everything in the world has meaning when it serves to unite us to God and to our brothers and sisters in charity, making us grow in compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience in forgiveness and peace all in imitation of Christ” Pope Leo XIV

After the Holy Mass, we made our way back to Casa Cabrini. The journey back was filled with quiet contemplation, as each of us reflected on the profound experiences of the weekend. Upon our return, we had the opportunity to rest and recharge.

That evening, we gathered for a special dinner. It was a time for sharing, laughter, and recounting the week's events. Each person shared their personal experiences, insights, and the impact of the pilgrimage on their lives. It was a fitting conclusion to a week filled with spiritual enrichment and newfound friendships. These moments will remain etched in our memories, a testament to the power of faith and the bonds formed through shared experiences.
