Empowering Women Through the Story of St. Frances Cabrini in Dzaipi, Uganda
In the month of March, as part of our mission here in Dzaipi, we embarked on a meaningful journey with various groups of women, inspired by the life and legacy of St. Frances Cabrini. Our aim is to make her story accessible and relatable, fostering reflection and empowerment among the women we work with.
Sr. Albertina Ghislieri, MSC helping the women creating boats
We have thoughtfully divided the story of Saint Frances Cabrini into short, engaging chapters. Our materials are designed to be accessible, sparking imagination and connection. For instance, we share tales of St. Cabrini's childhood, encouraging creativity by building paper boats and placing flowers. We use vivid imagery of rivers and missionaries traveling to distant lands to help the women visualize and connect with the narrative.
Sr. Suany De Oliveira, MSC, plays a pivotal role in our mission, helping to convey the life of Mother Cabrini. Her insights and knowledge enrich our storytelling, making the life of Mother Cabrini come alive for the women. This experience is not just about learning; it’s about sharing and connecting.
The women embrace these moments of reflection with open hearts and minds. They are eager to learn about the Mission of the Cabrini Sisters worldwide and share their own experiences. Through these interactions, we explore the importance of building a Christian family and instilling Christian values. Many women find parallels between Mother Cabrini's life and their own, fostering a deeper connection to her legacy.
After each meeting, we engage in games. We also offer Saint Cabrini medals and prayers as tokens of our shared journey. These activities not only celebrate our community but also strengthen the women's faith and dignity. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to support and empower these refugee women. Witnessing their growth and confidence affirms our belief that Mother Cabrini’s spirit is alive and thriving among us. We trust that she is pleased to be known more deeply by these women, who find strength and inspiration in her story.
May Jesus and Saint Frances Cabrini continue to bless our mission, guiding us in our efforts to contribute to the goodness of the Kingdom of God
