A new beginning for our mission in London

London is the oldest mission in our region. Founded in 1902 by Mother Cabrini in the by then southern periphery of London, the mission offered quality education to children from vulnerable families for more than 120 years.

Since the official closure of Santa Francesca Cabrini Primary School in July 2023, the premises have undergone a complete transformation, making way for new and creative approaches to respond to the changed needs of the local community.

The school building has been completely renovated and converted into a fully accessible hub to host organizations struggling to find a safe, dignified and affordable place to run their operations. The compound, renamed Cabrini Community Campus, has opened its doors to various organizations that share the same values as the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, are dedicated to serve the community with loving care, and are committed to form a community with one another.

The Campus currently hosts a preschool, a nursery school, the Catholic Mothers Apostolate, the Catholic Truth Society, the Catechist of the Good Sheperd, an icon artist, the Neocatechumenal community among others.

Cabrini Community Campus was inaugurated officially on March 11th, 2026 with a Mass presided over by Bishop Paul Hendricks, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Southwark, and four priests who have been friends with the Missionary Sisters and the historical Santa Francesca Cabrini School.
Sr. Barbara Staley, Superior of the Holy Spirit Region, and Sr. Patricia Godoy, General Assistant, attended the celebration together with former students, former employees and parents of former student of Santa Francesca Cabrini Primary School, and with representatives of the many associations that are currently using the Campus.

In her remarks at the end of the celebration, Sr. Barbara Staley thanked all participants and especially those who contributed to transforming the mission so that the presence of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is still alive and active in London. Sr. Barbara also encouraged everybody to keep their commitment to love each other and to love Jesus.
