A Day of Vocation Reflection in Dubbo, Ethiopia
On the 7th of June, the MSC community in Dubbo, Ethiopia, was graced with a special vocational meeting led by Sr. Alemenesh Otoro, MSC and Sr. Abrehet Weldemichael, a Comboni Missionary Sister. It was a day filled with learning, reflection, and spiritual growth, especially significant as it coincided with the vigil of Pentecost.

The sisters guided the group through the meaning of vocation, sharing insights on different kinds of vocational paths and how to discern one's calling. The young participants were encouraged to reflect on their personal journeys and consider how they might contribute to their communities and the world through their vocations. Given the timing of the meeting, the sisters also shared teachings about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. This was particularly poignant as the community prepared to celebrate Pentecost, a time that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.
The sisters took the opportunity to share stories of their congregations' founders, providing historical and spiritual context for their missions. Sr. Abrehet shared the inspiring life of St. Daniel Comboni, a man dedicated to the evangelization and education of the African continent. Meanwhile, Sr. Alemenesh spoke about St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, a remarkable woman known for her work with immigrants and her dedication to the service of the poor.
The community had prepared snacks and so immediately after the discussions, everyone gathered to eat something and socialize. Later after the refreshments, each person picked from a table a card with a gift of the Holy Spirit, thoughtfully prepared by the sisters. This act served as a reminder of the unique spiritual gifts each person carries.
The meeting concluded with a heartfelt prayer, uniting all participants in a moment of shared spirituality and hope. The day ended with a group photo, capturing the joy and unity of this special occasion.
